Doors that have known problems running with WildFire!
DOOR AUTHORS: This list does NOT intend to cast your program in a bad
light. I am simply providing the users of WildFire with
an explaination of why certain doors don't work as
expected with WildFire. If one of your programs appear
on this list please give me a call and let me know what
the problem is (if it is a problem) and I'll let the
users know. If you can, please send me a registered and
unregistered copy of your program and I will do the
compatiblity testing and inform the users of the update.
In return, I will provide you a registered copy of WildFire
with which to test your future programs. If for some reason
any of the information below is incorrect, or misinterpreted
by me, I sincerely apologize. If there is a solution to the
problem, please let me know immediately.
WildFire USERS: The list of doors that have problems running with WildFire
IN NO WAY is intended to reflect negatively on the quality
of the door in question. In every case so far these programs
are high quality doors and simply because they have a
problem running with WildFire does NOT mean that you should
not consider them for use in your system. You just need to
be aware of the problems that come up resulting from their
use.
The list of doors that have problems running with WildFire it very short
and in all cases, the problems presented are not with WildFire but rather
with the door itself and the problem would manifest itself running with
or without WildFire. I am presenting these notes because the problems with
these doors ARE more noticable running with WildFire.
The main cause of problems is usually in that the door in question is not
monitoring the users time properly. This may be intentional on the authors
part, especially in demo versions or, it may be bugs in the door. As I am
able to resolve the questions with the authors of the various problem
systems I will keep this list updated with the newest information.
Power Struggle 3.0/D
The newest DEMO release of the famous Power Struggle. The demo version
of this door DOES NO TIME MONITORING at all. It does not even appear to
monitor the keyboard for user inactivity after a certain period of time.
Be aware that a user can enter PS30D and will be allowed to remain there
for HOURS by PS, whether it is running with WildFire or not. I do not
know if this is intentional in the demo version or a bug. I also do not
know if the REGISTERED version has this same fault. As soon as I am able
to get ahold of the author I'll let you know more.
MOTU (Masters of the Universe, all DEMO versions)
MOTU is another system that does NOT pay attention to what it reads from
the user file regarding time remaining in either it's RBBS or PCBoard modes.
It IS better behaved than PS 3.0 in that the users time always defaults
to 20 minutes as the maximum they can be in the game. Again, I do not
know if the registered version handles user time correctly.
